The Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC) owns and operates the Middle East’s largest purpose-built exhibition and conference centre, with a total indoor exhibition space of more than 73,000 sq metres.

In 2009, ADNEC required assistance with the handover and snagging of a major new phase of the centre and appointed Macro to manage this critical activity.

Having successfully completed this phase of work, Macro’s role was extended to include service charge modeling for two of the adjacent developments. In addition, they provided specialist transition management for phase 3, including the unique Capital Gate building – the focal point of Capital Centre and an icon of Abu Dhabi’s progress and evolution.

Capital Gate’s distinctive futuristic design, aesthetic splendour and technical excellence meant that effective handover and transition management was critical to ADNEC and the other building users. One of the many challenges for the Macro team was to provide a comprehensive set of procedures and checklists, and to create a detailed audit trail that supports ongoing negotiations with contractors and hotel operators. Macro’s transition management team ensured a smooth handover of Capital Gate and reduced the normal handover time by 50 per cent.

Macro was responsible for driving the delivery of the 5512 As Built Drawings and 91 O&M Manuals to FM, ensuring that training manuals were produced and 63 training courses for maintenance staff were delivered. In addition, Macro drafted the Office Tenant Fit-Out Guidelines, was involved in the design reviews and oversaw the office fit-outs to ensure that stringent health, safety and environmental guidelines were met.
