Emirates Air Line - Operation

  • Emirates Air Line © J.Sturrock 2012

2012 was a landmark year for London and as the Olympic Games began Mace had already  completed delivery of the Emirates Air Line, the UK’s first urban cable car. In its first major transport operations role Macro was commissioned to assist with final design, preparations, develop operating procedures. Our scope of operations spanned FM and engineering management but also the day to day operations, including ticketing, incident management and transport operations.

It was clear to Macro that although the Emirates Air Line is a part of London’s transport infrastructure, it would be popular with tourists too  and our staff provide a flair of service in keeping with this dual role. As part of our role Macro also takes responsibility for duty management, incident management and major incident management. And our ongoing commitment to improvement means we provide detailed reports and passenger analysis and also ensure staff can take advantage of refresher training as required.

There are many benefits to this wonderful new London icon, but most important of all is that it has created employment for approximately 120 people, with nearly 50% local labour, ranging from management, front of house hosts, security officers, cleaners and specialist cable car engineers.
